Story of the Loyalist Ruiter family during the American Revolution. Softcover, 181 pages, 6-1/2" X 9-1/2" X 1/2".
In this book Horst Dresler tells the story of Henry and John Ruiter, farmers in the Colony of New York and Loyalists who fought for the Crown during the American Revolution and then, in defeat, were forced to immigrate to Quebec Province to start a new life. Together Henry and John served under Burgoyne and then in the King's Rangers. Later in his adventuresome life Henry served in the militia during the War of 1812. Dresler does a good job of examining the turmoil caused by civil war, when friends and family frequently were pitted against each other. Extensive historical documentation includes original records and letters.
